The World's Biggest Car Boot Sale
Shots from the 2011 World's Biggest Car Boot Sale at Ausgrid Stadium Car Park.
The beautiful weather brought the crowds out - for a full day of shopping for a bargain.
Thank you to sponsors, supporters and participants.
The day successfully raised over $25,000 to go towards the ongoing delivery of health and drug education to over 30,000 children in the region each year.

Children from Biddabah Public School gave the new playground facilities a workout today as Hunter Life Education launched the completed centre makeover project - supported by The Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation. Improvements to the Hunter Life Education Centre at Edgeworth included a new playgound area, new fit out of the function room and kitchen, smartboard technology and makeovers to the classrooms and training rooms.

Hunter Life Education hosted its annual Adopt-a-Class breakfast at Newcastle Panthers. The stories that Kurt Fearnley shared captured and inspired the audience, while Healthy Harold made friends with some students from Hunter Valley Grammar School.
Thanks to all who attended for your ongoing support. The funds raised from the morning go directly to supporting the delivery of healthy lifestyle education sessions to Hunter children.

As part of Volunteer Week, the Federal Member for Shortland Jill Hall hosted a Volunteer Awards night to recognise the important contribution volunteers make to our local community. Hunter Life Education was happy to see one of our most dedicated volunteers Tony Myers receive an award for his work with us at fundraising events and activities.

Andreena Kardamis is Hunter Life Education's new Youth Ambassador.
Andreena is currently completing her HSC. She is Chairperson for the Lake Macquarie Youth Advisorty Council and is passionate about youth making the right decisions through education and learning to help improve their lifestyle choices.
Andreena is a graduate of the Life Education program and we are pleased to have her representation.

Markey Insurance Brokers donated $34,112.31 to Hunter Life Education following their charity golf day. All funds raised from the day will be used to support the delivery of health and drug education programs in the region. In particular the funds will be used to help resource the secondary education program in the area.

The Markey Charity Golf Day was a great success last Friday, April 1st. Healthy Harold had a great time trying his hand at golf and the players had fun attempting to tee off with beer goggles on. All funds raised from the day go to Hunter Life Education.

To celebrate both the opening of the new Newcastle Permanent branch at Edgeworth and the grant of $100,000 from the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation, a cocktail party was held at Hunter Life Education Centre. Local community members and staff joined in celebrating the occasion.
The grant is being used to make improvements to the Hunter Life Education Centre, including new carpeting, audio and visual equipment for the classrooms and the installation of a new playground and kitchen facitilites. These are much-needed upgrades and Hunter Life Education thanks the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation for their generous support.

Hunter Life Education has been working with the Upper Hunter Life Education Development Committee to ensure each child in the Upper Hunter receives Life Education. The Muswellbrook Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a breakfast on 2nd March and allowed Hunter Life Education to inform it's members about the role of the community in supporting healthy lifestyle education in their area. Merewther Public School had the Life Education van visit their school where they learnt about healthy food choices, bullying, defining a drug, passive smoking and issues of littering. The children of Merewether Public School could attend this visit thanks to Adopt-a-Class supporters Auto Advantage and Lawler Partners and Life Education NSW.



Newcastle Special School enjoyed their Life Education visit where they learnt, among other things, about the safe use of medicines, the effects of passive smoking and pollution. The children of Newcastle Special School could attend the Life Education session thanks to Adopt-a-Class supporters Job Centre Australia.


The 2010 Hunter Region BEC Golf Day was a great success. Kurri Kurri Golf Club hosted 60 keen and amature golfers - to network and raise two Adopt-a-Class sponsorships for Hunter Life Education.

Tameeka Thornton, our School Based Business Services Trainee has been an invaluable part of the Hunter Life Education team for two years now.
On Wednesday 10th November Tameeka was awarded the winner of the Career Links School Based Traineeship Award in her category - Business Services AND the overall winner of the School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships 2010.
The Hunter Life Education team are all very proud of her. Congratulations Tameeka!
